SPM Swiss Nationals 2025 – Event Report

On 27-28 September speed puzzlers from across Switzerland have gathered in Widnau for the national championship. The competition consisted of solo, pair and team competitions with preliminary and final rounds. The top finishers have claimed medals and prizes from Ravensburger.

The Swiss National Championship took place over a whole weekend with qualifying rounds on the first day and finals taking place on the second day. The event was well organized with each round starting on time and the layout of the venue chosen to accommodate the participants comfortably.

Unusual for puzzle competitions, spectators were not allowed to visit the event, partly for the lack of tribunes to watch the competition, therefore the atmosphere was more quiet and competitors also toned down their cheering when someone was finished with their puzzle.

For the qualifying rounds, the puzzle choices were popular and welcomed by the participants. In the individual rounds two Circle of Colors puzzles were offered. The finals puzzles however proved to be rather difficult, especially the pair and team round. The pair final puzzle was the 2025 release Butterfly photo, which only 33 pairs managed to finish out of 59 competing. As for the team final puzzle, Cherry Blossoms in Berne, only 6 teams of 59 managed to finish within the time limit.

A popular addition to the event was a photo wall where everyone could take pictures to have a keepsake of the event.
