Puzzle Community & Speed Puzzling – are these puzzles we see in Worlds finals?

Speed puzzlers have found a list of upcoming Ravensburger puzzles online. Some of them seem likely candicates for puzzles we could see in Worlds finals.

First things first: No-one has found images of unpublished puzzles. But in some webstores like Thalia.de* you can see listings of future Ravensburger puzzle releases with no image but with the puzzle name. And based on the names it seems likely some of these puzzles will show up at Worlds.

Search for the puzzles

You can find the full list of the puzzles on the Thalia webstore via the following links. All the puzzles will be also listed at the end of this article.

In the search for puzzles with 500+ puzzles 15 have 500 pieces and have regular sized pieces. Out of these there are couple branded puzzles and two that can be recognized as having been previously published in other markets.

In the search for 1000+ pieces there are all together 32 puzzles with 1000 pieces. Also in this group there are some obviously branded ones and some that seem to be previously published in other markets.

All these puzzles are listed with publication date of 15.1.2026 or later.

Which puzzles could show up at Worlds

The championship uses relatively many unpublished 500 piece puzzles so it is possible we could see many of the names pop up in semifinals and finals. But there are two puzzles that particularly stand out amongst the search results:

If you have followed the competition in the last few years, you may have noticed that both 2023 and 2024 Worlds had puzzles with themes related to the championship in the finals. In 2023 we saw a puzzle called Puzzle People in the teams final, and in 2024 pairs final puzzle was called Valladolid and featured both puzzling people and the Millenium Dome where the championship has been since the first year.

Based on this trend, it does seem likely that Ravensburger would have produced a puzzle with similar connection to the championship for this year as well. However now it seems there may be two. And following the trend from previous years, it is more likely than not that these puzzles may be seen in the finals.

Puzzle Community, 500 pieces

It may well be that we will see a puzzling themed puzzle in the individual final for the first time since the insepction of Worlds. Individual is the only category that uses 500 piece puzzle in the final.

In the past the individual final puzzles have been from the general catalogue of Ravensburger and either photos or art in a realistic style. It will be interesting to see how much this puzzle may depart from the past trend.

Speed Puzzling, 1000 pieces

Both pairs and teams categories use 1000 piece puzzles and both have previously had these more special puzzles. This means it is hard to say in which category the Speed Puzzling puzzle might show up. But with puzzle name Speed Puzzling it feels very unlikely that we would not see this show up at Worlds.

With both puzzles it feels unlikely that these puzzles would be used before the finals.

Why we are sharing this information

We wanted to share this information with the puzzle community so that all competitors at Worlds would have a more even playing field. A name alone does not tell you much about the puzzle or give you a big advantage, but it can still give you a general idea of what you might be facing. So it feels more fair that all competitors have similar change to access the knowledge.

More importantly this seems to be a continuation of the unfortunate trend of information of the unpublished puzzles leaking one way or another before the round they are used in. In Worlds 2024 some of the umpublished images were visible and available for preorder on different Amazon sites already prior to the championship happening. And in European Championship this summer all of the puzzle images could be found on the back of the puzzles used in the championship so after first rounds all knew what images to expect.

The benefit of unpublished images in competitions is that it evens the playingfield. There can be huge differences in how easily available different Ravensburger puzzles are in different regions of the world and to different individuals depending on their income and connections within the community. When no-one has seen the puzzle, the benefit of having wide access to the Ravensburger catalogue, is minimized the best it can. But if the image is known and studied by some, even if they don’t get a change to practice the puzzle, it will bring that unequality back into the game.

We here in Speed Puzzling News hope that in the future, there won’t be any leaks like the image leaks before or even leaks of the puzzle titles. But in case we do, we are going to share the information with the community in interest of creating equal changes to all competitors.
